January 2017

Happy New Year to all our guests – old and new. Those guests who have already booked will know that, amongst our ‘Insider Files’ I send on booking, Food and Food & Drink Favourites are amongst these – providing a comprehensive list of great restaurants to suit all occasions, tastes and budgets.

Below, I have added some local spots that are very good – and within easy walk from Pilrig House:

Digi-Free Experience at Pilrig House

Yes we have Wi-Fi – but, if you love listening to a CD, Radio 4, or simply using a remote control to turn on your TV, and not a ‘wall panel’ to tune your alarm or turn on the room lights, you’ve come to the right place!

Alternatively…

Our old neighbours Lynzi and Bertrand here at Pilrig House, have opened Scotland’s first Virtual Reality World at nearby Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre (where the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed). I highly recommend it – you can climb Everest, walk in space or go on the world’s highest roller-coaster – great fun and a mind-blowing experience:

They also own the unique not-for-profit Scottish Design Exchange, where you can buy one-off arts and crafts by Scottish artists, housed under the same roof:

Happy travelling!
